I have always used Martin strings both on my acoustic and electric guitars. These strings are for my Yamaha acoustic. I initially purchased regular, bronze strings. They were hard on my tender fingers and I didn't like the sound of the ones I chose as much as I was used to experiencing with Martins. They would have been fine on an electric guitar, however. I purchased these as an alternative. They are easier on my fingers and the sound is the more subtle and mellow that I was looking for. They are thinner and may not last as long, but we will see. I left my old, worn out bronze strings on this guitar all of the years I didn't play it and, while they had lost their sound, they still tuned up without breaking. I hope Martin quality has not changed in the intervening years.
