I picked this as our first cold case mystery game and afterwards ordered several more from the same company since it was so fun. I did this particular case with a friend who also enjoys puzzles (think escape rooms, riddles, etc.). We finished this case in around four hours, but did subsequent cases in 2-3 hours once we understood what to do. We thought the cost was a good value considering the entertainment time and product quality. Based on the cases we have done each case effectively is broken down into three phases. 1) Read all the documents and figure out how the murder was accomplished. 2) Figure out who lied to the police. 3) Put all the evidence together to convict them. The first phase takes the most time. You are given many suspects that have a lengthy police statement, a police interview transcript and usually a supporting statement from another character. This takes a while to read through but is generally amusing. There are newspaper clippings, an autopsy report, and crime scene photos to review. There is a question that you need to answer using a QR code and once you get the question right you open additional envelopes that provide more information. This repeats for the second and third phases although these phase provide only a small amount of additional documents that need to be combined with the phase one information. We found the puzzle challenging but fair and logical. The mystery did not require any obscure leaps of logic, just paying attention to details and answering the questions in the order they were asked rather than trying to jump to the end in one leap.
