Catches Flys
This thing does indeed work as advertised. Has a bit of a yeasty smell but as long as you move it at least 10 feet away from the area you are trying to protect you cannot smell it. They sell refills of the baking soda/yeast attractant, but this thing is so filled with flies and so gross I'll just by another new one. Still working strong after 1 month. Also, have not seen any beneficial insects get trapped, just flies and lots of them.

This Works and is Easy to Use
This product is well made for its purpose. You just pour in the non-toxic packet of fly attractor, add water, and place outside. As soon as the mixture activates (1-2 days), flies go for it! I had a swarm of flies in my patio area that made it impossible to enjoy sitting outside. I put this down about 6 ft away from the patio near my jasmine trellis and in two days ALL the flies were in the trap and gone from my patio. I like that this is non-toxic. The main ingredient is yeast. Yeast does not smell bad nor will cause any problem should it spill on the ground. The plastic container is sturdy enough to hold everything safely and you can clean it out and reuse it. I have ordered more packets of the yeast mixture to do just that. It does not hang so you need to make sure you have a level place to set it on. I bought a different brand that was supposed to hang, but it quickly came undone, fell and the bag burst open. The Flybuster doesn't have that problem! I love this product and highly recommend it.

I set out to test all the baited jug type fly traps in my chicken coop and run…
I liked the look of an size of this trap i really expected to fill it with dead flies, repeatedly over the summer and fall.It looked like it would really work and be an improvement on the other more basic traps. It was more expensive than all the other more effective traps that were tested. So it’s about the end of the outdoor fly season. Time to take down all the various traps. This one was placed in a very target rich environment. It was hung In a protected and covered area directly over a large compost pile a location where the chickens get fed all sorts of stuff from the kitchen and the garden.Other traps were placed in the coop and around the perimeter.Even though it was in one of the most infested areas, and protected from the rain and wind it failed to catch as many flies as a simple milk jug with at topper.Maybe One problem was it had trouble staying fully open the design can allow the top to come down on an angle. I was constantly checking it and propping it back up.Even so that isn’t much of an excuse there are a lot of flies in that areaBottom line this trap promises to catch and hold a lot of flies but underperforms dramatically. Even though I added an extra pack of fly bait.IMO.Save some $ get a starbar or even better use those yellow and black jug toppers that fit on juice or milk jugs. You can save the original cap and then they are the easiest to dispose of no clean up and the cheapest to use.For best results Be sure to properly bait whatever trap you use.

Worked well at first but the smell is putrid
The media could not be loaded. I had this bucket out in a different area for 2 days. It got about 50 flies and I was impressed. We feed some alley cats and their food attracts an insane amount of flies. This morning I moved it closer to where the majority of the flies were swarming. Less than 8 hours later I went to check on it and found this monstrosity!! This product is no joke. There’s at least 2000 flies that were caught today. I’m so glad it works but also disgusted to see how many got trapped in only 8 hours. I will absolutely be buying again!!UPDATE: less than a week later and I had to toss it. This thing traps lots of flies but smelled like a porta potty that had not been cleaned in 3 weeks and left to bake in the hot sun- gagging when i tried to walk past it. The worst part was the larvae that began growing in the bucket. Hundreds of them writhing around. This bucket definitely traps them, but it does not kill them. Not one of them sank into the liquid or “drowned” as the product says it does. Not sure why they were just floating. If you have a minimal-medium fly problem this could work for you, but if you have a big fly problem this is not going to do the trick.

Definitely attracts flies
East to use, started to attract flies almost immediately however there is a 24 activation period and that’s when the flies really swarm. The lid needs to be tugged a bit to keep it open but it’s not a big deal. Works as advertised. I recommend and oils buy again. PS—the odor is horrid but only if you get too close as in moving it from one spot to the next. Otherwise you can’t smell if placed away from sitting area.

It does what it says it does!
The media could not be loaded. Originally bought this because I kept finding maggots in my trash cans. I was tired of power washing it out every single trash day. For the price, it was worth a shot to see if it would ease up the fly traffic around the cans. Day 2 of it out there and it has caught a substantial amount of flys. I don’t think it will last 30 days before it’s full. I’d say at this rate, it will be full in less than a week. So maybe it works a little TOO good. You can take that how you please. I will probably buy the bigger one once this one is full. Also I recommend putting it as far away from your house as possible since it can smell a little funky when up close. Mines is probably about 25-30 feet from the back door. Great product for the price.
