If you use a reasonable needle size like 21-23 Gauge it will auto seal - so one can do multiple punctures. After several hundreds of punctures the arm may develop a couple of minor leaks. As these leaks come from the tubes under the skin - one cannot suture it closed - but one can actually use the arm for practicing suturing skills - it works well for this purpose! Trust the answer helps! **Q: can you practice placing iv in arm and back of hand both?** A: Yes indeed - one can practice phlebotomy / IV procedures on both the ventral forearm as well as the dorsum (back) of the hand. **Q: Can you buy replacement skin and veins?** A: Hi Kelly, at this pricing replacement skin and veins is not available. It feels pretty sturdy, and once I got everything set up, it was actually really useful for practicing different techniques. It’s a nice option for getting some hands-on practice without needing to work on an actual person, and I like that it comes with the tubing and other accessories needed to get started. My biggest complaint is definitely the instructions. They’re pretty vague and don’t explain the setup or how all of the different pieces work together as clearly as I would have liked. If you’re new to using something like this, it can be a little confusing at first and there’s definitely some trial and error involved. A more detailed step-by-step guide with pictures or examples would make this much easier to use. That being said, once I figured everything out, I had a much better experience with it. The arm itself is well designed and gives you a realistic enough setup to practice and build confidence. For the price, I think it’s a solid training tool.
