I can’t guarantee the kits will work but I can’t think of a reason they wouldn’t. **Q: Do these kits come with 6 light bars?** A: 6 LED parts, 6 x 2 pickups, 6 yellow filters (which do not make a difference with 11-212) and 6 diffusion bars are included in this package. **Q: do you have any idea if this will work in a NON-KATO car?** A: The tricky part of installing them in non kato cars is collecting power from the rails. If you can work that out, you may be able to make it work. You almost have to use Kato trucks to collect electricity on whatever cars you use. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐ Broken light filter *by S***J on 11 February 2025* The product quality is good, but I received it damaged—one of the light filters was broken. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good product & brand *by M***E on 6 January 2026* Great lights ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliantly engineered, just takes some patience *by A***T on 2 February 2016* When installed correctly, these look great. They cast an even light throughout the cabin, and everything has obviously been very well engineered and machined. I have them on a DCC layout, though apparently they work on DC layouts just as well. It will probably take you about 15 minutes for the first car, and then 2-3 minutes for each one after that. For me, I found the following to be helpful: 1) On the lamp portion, give the pins a slight bend so they have some "spring" into the metal contact strips. This will also help hold everything in place. 2) Pay attention so how the lightboard goes in place. The light is in the back of the car, and the front of the top (which you remove to install the lighting it) is marked with an arrow (at least it was on my Amtrak Intercities). The light panel should snap, or at least sit in place, when it is seated correctly. 3) Consider putting a small piece of electrical tape underneath the lamp piece. Just like 1cm x 1/2cm, enough to block light shining down on those first two rows of seats. With this in place, the lighting across the car is much more even. The kit also contains six (and exactly six) orange pieces of plastic which can be mounted on the lamp piece to help diffuse and "warm" the color a bit.
