The harder you pull it back to make the punch, the harder it will hit! Altho, I would make sure you are not about to use this tool on hardened steel as you may loose your point. Review: Better than automatic punches - This thing has help of for months now of regular use. I use it mostly on aluminum fabrication and it works well, easy to gauge about 1/2” or less will make a decent hole to start drill bits, some of my peers had cheap automatic center punches break and always ask to borrow mine. It’s simple, rugged, and works beautifully. I couldn’t recommend it more.

A: No hole, just a small dimple so the drill bit doesn’t slip when drilling.

**Q: Will this work as a metal center punch?**
A: That's what it's for. It's a prick punch on one end and Center punch on the other.

**Q: Is there a youtube video that shows how best to use this spring/automatic punch? My husband made off with my brass auto punch so looking for new one.**

This thing has help of for months now of regular use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Much easier and more accurate than hammering

Works great and is simple to use. I love how I don't need to use a hammer in order to dimple my metal. I found that my punches are more accurate as there is significantly less motion behind this than hammering. I have only made 5 knives with this so far, and I dont harden my metal before punching, but it feels durable and has noy lost any of its point. Its also great because its small enough to fit easily in your pocket but still powerful enough to get the job done.
