Trouble is one of the catches doesn't stay engaged; as soon as the screw gets the least bit tight, it slips off the catch and just spins. The whole thing is useless. Poor design, poor assembly. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, poorly executed. *by N***E on Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2014* The Pony 9170 clamp is intended for right-angle use. I use mine to hold rails and stiles together for attachment. The clamp has a good length of screw enabling the clamping of wide items (2+ inches -- see specs.).Now the bad news. Because the clamp designer wanted a clamp that would quickly adjust, rather than requiring the screw to be turned from large to small opening, a "push button" was installed. Push the button, and the threaded "nut" is removed from the screw, enabling rapid adjustment. Great idea, but poorly executed. The mechanism is a single small piece of casting that engages the screw thread over, perhaps, 20-30 degrees of rotation around the thread. This is insufficient for moderate to high pressures. Thus, the clamp screw tends to slip from a tight clamp to a looser one. This can be somewhat controlled by putting the proper orientation of side torque on the handle, which holds the screw into the portion of the nut that is present.Bottom line, good concept, poor design. I'm keeping mine, and using them, but they are less than excellent. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product *by S***A on Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2011* I am using these clamps to help glue and staple the 1 x 6 rabbited hemlock trim around the windows in the unfinished portion of my home. I innitially worked with bar clamps combined with blocks to square the corners and that required at least 3 clamps per corner. These clamps are much easier to use and securly hold the trim at right angles. They are also nicely finished, easy to adjust and built heafty enough to frame larger than picture frame material.
