## Description

The disc lock is a special form of padlock with some distinct advantages. The disc shape effectively combats the most common ways of forcing it open. The design with only a small opening in the shackle makes it very difficult to tamper with. As the ABUS Diskus is made mainly of stainless steel, it is used especially where security and protection against corrosion are required.360-degree all-round protection. The Diskus family is available in models with diameters between 50 and 80 mm. The original Diskus is only available from ABUS. As a special model, the locks can be retrofitted with a disc cylinder (ABUS-Plus locking system) or cylinder pulling protection.

Review: Very pick resistant - I am using this lock the past 2 months. Although the packaging was shabby, it appears to be a genuine Abus diskus lock. It is a 6 disc lock, but of previous generation. The newer generation of diskus locks come with a floating disc cylinder which make them even more pick resistant. The only odd thing I found about the lock I got was the model number is inscribed as 20/70 on the lock when it is actually a 20/80 lock, as you can see from the photo. Germans are known for their attention to detail and it's inconceivable to me how they could have made such a mistake.
Review: If you think a lock can’t be cut then don’t bother buying one because you’ll be disappointed. But if you want a lock that is hard to cut and difficult to pick then this is your choice. You can feel a serious difference in weight and materials between this and the previous discus lock from the prior brand name that was cut off my storage locker. This is super high quality and built tough. Will fit anywhere the competitors will. The keys are different than anything else you’ve experienced. I bought two locks, one key worked easily right out of the box and the other felt gritty and wouldn’t unlock. So I put a little fine oil in both and after a few twists back and forth they both work like clocks. I will admit the site is confusing. Whether you order keyed the same or keyed differently you seem to get two locks that the keys are not interchangeable between the locks as you might’ve wished-although if you pay nearly twice as much per lock you may be able to order directly and actually get the locks which open with the same key-but not here. There may be a key service to order keys that open both after the fact but Unfortunately the site is in German and very hard to make heads or tails of. So expect to have a separate key for each one and keep track of which is which because there is no outward sign or number to distinguish one from the next. I solved this with a piece of colored electrical tape both on the key and lock to differentiate. I don’t expect anyone short of a grinder to cut through these and don’t believe the average thief can pick them. When you absolutely need security these are as good as you can get. Ain’t cheap but neither is everything inside your trying to keep safe. Buy a little quality oil, take your time opening them out of the box and don’t worry about the negative reviews. However, don’t expect any help from abus.com/yourplus (no English version) unless you speak/read fluent German so support is a bit limited

**Q: Can i get 2 locks keyed the same**
A: Yes you can. Try looking up "Abus 20/80 KA" instead of KD. KA means Keyed Alike.

**Q: Are any heavy users having issues with the keys breaking or being difficult to use like one of the reviewers describes?**
A: It is easy to put key in upside down it looks similar on both sides I keep reversing it and trying to turn it gently till it opens.  Worth it to have pick resistant lock, I had the cheapie lock that looks like this kind picked and had items stolen from storage.  If you remember which side of key goes to top and which way to turn it, it opens quickly, but I dont open enough to do this.

**Q: Will this lock fit a pod storage unit? requirements is no bigger than a 1/2 inch shackle. please respond if you have actual experience with pods. txs**
A: I would recommend the Abus 20/70 (which is the same exact design, just smaller than the 20/80). The 20/70 is the typical size that you see on most storage units. Both the larger 20/80 and smaller 20/70 have the same shackle diameter of 7/16" of an inch.

**Q: How thick is the shakle? i am using a cheap master lock with a 3/8" shackle, i can pick it in seconds!**
A: The shackle, which is a hardened alloy, is the absolute maximum and still fit a POD rolldown door or a storage locker.  I have two of these...one on each of the above and if we’re any larger you would not get it to fit.  It is doubtful you would pick this think...I don’t think you could get it off with bolt cutters either.
