Q: How many seeds do you put into each sponge, approximately?

Lettuce and Basil can both handle 3-4 seeds per sponge. If your seeds are larger, then you will only plant 1 or 2 per sponge.

Q: Can I transplant the sponges into the dirt?

Yes, when the seed sprouts and grow a little bigger, you can put the whole sponge in the dirt.

Q: Are these compatible with bosch smartgrow (originally called plantui)?

Not familiar with that system. However the sponges don't really fit with the two different ones I have. They are rolled smaller and seed holes seem to be deep. Tried squash and Mellon seeds and they are to big for seed holes in sponges even after pre soaking. Not having much luck with those sponges.

Q: How long is the shelf life of these if unused and stored properly?

The root growth sponges don't have an expiration date. It needs to be stored in a dry and ventilated environment to avoid mold.
