This unit comes with a rated D-shackle just like the others I've purchased for vehicle recovery. The rubber rings are a nice touch to keep the shackle from rattling around but really aren't practical for recovery operations where you'll need to remove the pin to connect a strap.This was the best price solid billet (not welded tubing) hitch mount I could find that had cross drilled holes. This allows you to mount the shakle vertically or horizontally, depending on the angle of the recovery vehicle. I'll likely replace the pin with a different unit that doesn't use a cotter pin. These tend to get lost or go flying at the most inconvenient time so a pin with an integrated lock/clip is preferred. The pin the comes with it fits through the receiver holes like a glove. No rattling around or shaking. That washers that come with it are nice. Didn't think I needed them, but realized that on the road, or off of the road, the washers help keep the shackle nice and snug against the multi mount receiver and also prevent rattling. In my opinion the only thing that could have made it better is if it can with a locking pin instead.
