## Description

Pursue your passion with D’Addario’s most popular coated acoustic guitar string set, the EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings that deliver the ideal balance of volume, projection and comfortable playability. With EXP coated phosphor bronze strings you get the familiar warm, bright, well balanced acoustic tone of uncoated strings but with 4 times more life. These coated light acoustic guitar strings feature plain steel strings and hexagonal cores made of our revolutionary NY High Carbon Steel. Envisioned, perfected, and manufactured by D’Addario in New York, this break-resistant, high-carbon steel wire delivers unprecedented strength and pitch stability. Your strings will sound as good at the end of a show as they did during the first set of the night. D’Addario leverages centuries of string-making experience to bring you the most durable, consistent and enduring guitar strings. Made in the USA for the highest quality and performance, only D’Addario strings are sealed inside and out. Unlike other coated strings that are wound then coated, D’Addario strings feature an ultra-fine layer of EXP coating that is bonded to the phosphor bronze wrap wire and then wound onto the hex-shaped core wire. The result is a barrier against corrosion and a consistent, long-lasting tone. And thanks to the corrosion resistant packaging, the strings are always fresh. The string gauges in this acoustic string set include: Plain Steel .012, .016, Phosphor Bronze Wound .024, .032, .042, .053. Since 1905, D’Addario has been providing artists and players with the tools they need to perform their magic. As musicians ourselves, we have the unique ability to engineer products that inspire other musicians. The D’Addario family’s vision, creativity, passion and tradition have made us the world’s largest musical instrument string manufacturer. We put our family’s heart, soul and love for making music into every string and instrument accessory we create, and we never stop inspiring performance.

Review: My search is over! - This opinion is based on my small body guitars, a Gibson LG-3 and Eastman E15-SS, w/ Adirondack top, Rosewood back/sides and a 24-3/4" scale lengths.. I flatpick, fingerstyle and light strum on these without any issues. My usual strings are D'Addario EJ16, But I don't like the way they sound at first. Too bright, then perfect after a few days of playing them in.This is the string I settled on after bouncing around from Martin, Elixir, Ernie Ball etc.... Basically, I've been searching for a couple years for strings that match this guitar and I'v finally found them. These EXP16, are amazing right out of the pack. The strings are easier on my fingers and the squeaking from slides is less pronounced. The only thing I'd note, is that they are a little sticky when bending, but it's not a deal breaker. Again, I can't believe how loud and clear my little guitar is with these on it. I love this (Eastman) guitar a lot, and this made me appreciate just what a special guitar it is. I mean, this thing is already a little boom box, but with these strings it got even louder and clearer. I could't imagine getting a better sound than what I've got going with these strings. We'll have to wait and see how long they last, but if my experience with this manufacturer is any indicator, I won't be disappointed.
Review: My favorite strings by far. - These are my favorite strings by far. I have tried several other coated strings, including the best selling brand, and these are the best. They feel very natural and smooth, so much that you almost can't tell they are coated strings. The coating does extend the life of the strings by a lot, making them well worth the extra few bucks. The sound is perfectly balanced and it does not take long at all to break in the sweet tone you are looking for. I have been using these strings exclusively on my Taylor for about 5 years and have no need to try other strings. These are perfect for me and Subscribe and Save is an awesome way to get these as often as you need them and save even more cash. Give them a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference between exp 16 and exp 16 3d strings ?**
A: It means that its part of a three pack. Simple as that! So no difference in the product at all.

**Q: I noticed the total string tension is 4 pounds lighter than non coated. Does less tension make a mellower sound?**
A: not sure if its a mellower sound per se. it does make them easier to play. good strings and they do sound good

**Q: How well do these strings last if they are put through different tuning setups frequently?**
A: Haven't put thru lots of different tuning setups but so far no problems. Great strings - very flexible without breaking.

**Q: Debate time! :D In your opinion which is the better-sounding string: the D'Addario EXP phosphor bronze or Elixer nano-web phosphor bronze?**
A: The Elixirs have a more trebly snap to them - a very specific sound, maybe a little tinny. The EXPs are definitely warmer, fuller in the bass. I prefer the EXPs for sound.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Don't get much better
*by W***R on December 24, 2013*

One doesn't get much better than D'Addario strings. In my opinion they're twice as clear as Martin strings and the EXPs just last forever. I like the standard Phosphor Bronze just as well and use those as a less-expensive alternative. I certainly recommend D'Addario nylon strings on classical guitars. I've heard no other string that has the crisp, clean, rich sound of this brand of strings. I've used them for years and once in a while give in to the temptation to try another brand... but always come back to this one. Different diameter strings will sound significantly different, depending on the guitar you use. I prefer this mid-range string set for overall depth of sound and mellow beauty of tone. Any lighter and the guitar sounds "tinny", any heavier and I fear strings putting undue stress on the neck. These are "just right".
