It sticks like glue and goes nowhere. Hang on to the flat packing it comes in, as well as the plastic that originally went on top of it. That's how you'll store it for a long time of use. I had a previous sticky pad that lasted years until I got lazy and left it on the dash. Over a hot summer it melted onto the dash which I can definitely see happening with this. If it's hot out and you're parked for a while, take it off and properly put it away. It can be rinsed off under a faucet if it gets dirty and will work like new again.

A: I've used it on the leather and plastic dash. No sticky residue left behind.

A: It's so sticky and soft that I think it will. It doesn't keep its shape. I didn't want to use it because I suspected it'd leave marks on the dash if removed. throwed it away. If it's in hot sun light, I think it'll melt into the dash.
