I have tried a few over the years. The last filter I had was a Vitamin C filter that attached to the shower arm a bit like this one does. It was just that it ran out of Vit C rather quickly and was expensive to refill. This one has been going strong for over a month now and it still going strong. The instruction sheet says to remove the cartridge and flip it over if the flow of water begins to lessen. You will also get some more life out of the filter medium. I can definitely tell that it is reducing the chlorine. My hair and skin feel softer. We have really hard water where I live and this seems to help a little with that too. (if you really need to reduce your hard water you may want to check into an electronic water softener, I have had a clear wave brand one now going strong for 8 years, there is also an Eddy brand here on Amazon that looks good too. I haven't had any scale or lime deposits on the fixtures and tiles since) This in-line shower filter seems to make it even softer feeling. I chose this filter because the replacement filters are available in the Amazon Subscribe and Save store and that gets you anywhere from 5%-15% off your filter when you have it auto shipped.
