Since AC goes both ways a single diode can't block it. **Q: Will these work in a vehicle? Is there a way to do it solderless?** A: Use male and female spade connectors; fill the end of the spade connector with solder, then insert the end of the diode into the solder, repeat on each end, one end male the other female, that way if you need to remove the diodes from the circuit the connectors on the wires, which need only be crimped, can plug into one another. And when you're done shrink tube the connections, and optionally wrap them with e-tape.Edit: I assumed by solderless you meant hardwired. If you mean completely solderless, I would not recommend it, not to mention it would be a real PITA. Having done plenty of automotive wiring, inline crimp connections can fail or be pulled apart, the advantage of using spade connectors are that if you shrink tube them they literally cant be pulled apart, and are second to solder in my opinion; the advantage over solder being you can cut the shrink tube and seperate them without having to unsolder the wires. **Q: will this be right size to run 2 12v LED string lights?** A: These are diodes they are used to control the direction of current in a dc circuit or build a rectifier that converts ac to dc.An LED is also a diode if you are connecting an led to a circuit no additional diodes would be needed.Diodes are polarity sensitive and should be rated for the proper voltage.Hope this helps ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Prevents backfeeding on marine DC lighting circuits *by B***P on December 27, 2019* Switching lights from multiple locations can be challenging for the DIY (but experienced) marine electrician. You can wire a "hallway" set-up, similar to what you might do in a house. You can get fancy and use latching relays but this is complex and expensive. I've learned to use these diodes in DC lighting circuits. You can design circuits that switch from multiple locations and prevent current from back feeding into wiring where it's not desired. Navigation lights, anchor lights and courtesy lights come to mind. These diodes are a little overkill for what I use them for but they work great and are inexpensive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reliable *by L***L on January 9, 2025* These rectifier diodes have been a great addition to my electronics toolkit. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great diodes for any electronics project *by G***Y on March 10, 2015* Was able to pull over 200w out of a full-wave rectifier using these and electrolytic capacitors; doubled the voltage and held stable under loads. Used 13vAC got 19vDC under 200w load with small transformer (less than 2lbs/1kg maybe 120w rated) yes the transformer got hot after a minute, but for a test that is what I needed to see.
