I mounted the 4 casters on the twinned 2x4 legs of my workbench. The bench is heavy - made up of double 2x4 legs and stringers and a solid core door for the work surface. The instructions were clear enough to figure out. It will be interesting to see if the mounting screws will hold the weight of the bench over time or eventually loosen and tear out. Keeping the casters in the "up" position will at least keep the weight on the legs where it belongs and not on the casters and their mounting screws....you just have to remember to tip the casters up.
