Very good coffee, and good for the birds!
Very Good Coffee. I use a French Press and it still does not not leave any kind of unpleasant flavour as an aftertaste. However, I find, when you add a bit of half and half, you can actually taste the subtle flavors of this coffee even better. A mild lighter roast coffee which actually means MORE CAFFEINE! Delicious: great in the morning or mid-day.It is also good to know that it is shade grown and fair trade. This means that the growers receive a fair price AND if it is shade grown there are other non-coffee trees around which means the coffee beans will have a better flavour, there will be a larger variety of plant species in the forests and birds can have homes and song birds that winter there have a larger habitat and diet.Enjoy your coffee guilt free!

great value, good taste
I've tried several brands of organic SWP decaf, all ordered from Amazon and this is the best value. I didn't give it 5 stars just because it's not super-memorable, but the flavor competes well with the other brands. The package states that the beans should be used within a month for best flavor. (I transfer small amounts into a coffee can for daily use, and keep the bag tightly sealed.) I hesitated at first to buy such a large bag......what if it was awful? So I was pleasantly surprised. Give it a try !

35 pounds later
I just realized I've had this on subscribe for over a year. So far I've bought this 7 times, and plan to keep it on subscription. I placed the order originally for the fact that it is fair trade certification. I appreciate the concept. I've kept ordering it because I like the flavor. I would describe it as mild, some acidity. We sometimes put honey in it, which balances the flavor nicely for our tastes. I do use more of the coffee that I normal would. I use heaping tablespoons, so the ratio may be about 1 1/2 actual spoons per cup of water, maybe 2 depending on your taste. In general, I think this is a really good coffee, with a nice bonus of it's certifications.

We Love It!!!
It is flavorful and still very smooth even though we brew very strong coffee. We love that it is good for the workers (fair trade), good for the environment and ourselves (organic), and good for the wild life and ecosystem (shade grown) not to mention it is really cheap to boot... there is just nothing I can find wrong with this coffee! I will so note that it always smells like coffee when I open the bag and especially so when I grind it. I have never had gourmet Nicaraguan coffee so I can't compare to that but compared to any other whole bean coffee I have bought this one is our favorite.

Very good espresso
I have tried a lot of different whole bean espressos from high-end "boutique" to supermarket and this is easily the best i've had. NOTE: I like more of a chocolate/cocoa type of flavor and dislike the winey/citrusy thing that seems to be popular at the moment. If you like that type this will not be for you.

Here is what I did
Here is wRead carefully! This is no item for "buy again" from your Orders page. In my case, I received ground rather than whole-bean coffee. As I use it slowly, this if not ideal. The flavor is good, and it continues to check off my conscience points (shade-grown, fair-trade, organic -- at least, I hope it does). Reviews of coffees of various origins seem mixed in here, so read carefully.I wonder: Do I really need to fiddle with the coffee-bean grinder every morning? Or could that have been...an affectation? I'm about to find out.

Very very good flavor and price
I am pleasantly surprised this coffee is so good for this price. I use this to make shots of espresso, and it does that beautifully, it's not bitter or watery, good full bodied flavor. My 5 star Decaf Espresso would be Caribou Cross Fox Espresso Decaf which is smoother and more complex, but that would be almost twice the price! Organic and SWP and good flavor that doesn't cost a fortune? I am happy.

A Coffee That Actually Tastes as Good as it Smells
My wife and I are writers, so coffee is very important to us. (Ask any writer how essential coffee is!) This is one of the very best coffees we have ever tried. (We also like organic Mexican Altura, but like this better.) We have been ordering Yirgacheffe through Amazon for several months, and have these good things to say about it: 1)The quality is extremely high, and is CONSISTENTLY high. 2)The beans are always roasted to perfection. 3)It is organic -- we try to drink only organic coffee, for taste reasons as well as health reasons. 4)Unlike some coffees, we never get tired of it or bored with it.
