Devney Perry has taught me she can deliver big. Over and over again. And Christmas in Quincy is no exception.Cleo and Austin’s story didn’t feel rushed. It didn’t feel incomplete. Cleo and Austin’s story was pure gold with Christmas in Quincy as the perfect background. Their attraction, their banter, their past. Goodness, it was incredible. Everything felt so natural. So inevitable.Not sure how I feel about Mateo winking at her but I’ll allow it 🤨 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Great Intro *by K***Z on Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2022* Novellas are a tricky thing for me, I really love books with a lot of character development which is just hard to do in a short format, which is why I normally only like novellas that take place with already established characters. This one is an intro to a series, which is another one of my exceptions for novellas, so I figured I would give it a shot.I want to say first off that I really liked this introduction to the town, the characters in the book aren’t local, they are on vacation, so we get to see the town through their eyes. I think this is a great way to set up a series that takes place in a town.I also really liked that these characters had a years long preexisting relationship (or what seems like dislike), so it’s believable that things would develop, it doesn’t feel like insta-love which I generally don’t like. It feels authentic.I really liked Cleo, my biggest problem with her is that while reading the book all I wanted to do was eat a cupcake or a muffin (she’s a pastry chef). I love that she feels very down to earth even though he dad massively rich. I also like that she is doing this for herself, that she ran away to Montana for a much needed vacation and space from her overwhelming family life. She’s a grown woman, she deserves to stand on her own.Austin is also really likable. He’s a self-made man. He’s a good son and a good brother. He basically has a crush on Cleo, the woman he is suppose to be guarding through his security firm, which he knows is a bad idea, so he’s kind of mean to her as a way to protect himself. It definitely pulls at the heartstrings when he really sees that he hurts her feelings.I liked the two of them together, I liked the epilogue, and I really liked the town. Cleo comes to Quincy, Montana, for a vacation over Christmas. She has always been under her father's thumb and she needed to get away. Austin is in charge of the security team for her and, unknown to Cleo, is also there in Quincy to watch and protect her. She is not happy about it when she finds out.Cleo thinks that Austin hates her and that's what he wants her to think. He feels way too much where Cleo is concerned and he needs this job. If he let his feelings be known, he knows he would be fired. Of course, Cleo has always had feelings for him, too.I like that we did get an introduction to some of the Edens in this book. It didn't truly feel part of The Edens series as they weren't the main focus.
