Even though our cat has a tall perch in the garage to look out, our cat liked to roam on our cars. Sometimes even left barf behind. Not cool. With the purchase of a new car that shows the prints, we needed a solution to terminate the trespassing without terminating the cat :-) This device has worked well so far. This device is physical-movement sensitive. When I bought the alarm, I placed it on the hood and tapped the hood. It alarmed immediately. This is the the very type of action that the cat would take jumping on the hood. If a very noisy large truck goes by outside that causes vibrations, it can go off. But that seems to be very rare. All I know is that since I put the thing on the car hood, no more kitty paw prints. As the winter weather comes there may be more temptation to try the hood again, but I think the irritating sound will help kitty reprogram her decision to roam about on top of the car. And I bought two alarms, so as winter comes, if the behaviour has not been extinguished with warm hoods on colder nights, we will bring out the second alarm for our other car. Hopefully kitty is a fast learner. I put a piece of soft shelf liner under the alarm to avoid scratching when we put it on the hood and take it off. Has worked wonderfully. Now one thing the alarm will NOT do is take itself off of the hood. A few days after getting it, I drove out of the garage and up the street. It suddenly dawned on me that I had not taken it off before leaving...I had heard this weird sound in my new car and realized it was not the electric motor, but instead the alarm on my hood. I am sure people wondered about me when I was driving down the road with the alarm blazing on each bump. I sheepishly got out of my car at a store parking lot and put the thing inside my car after turning it off. Lesson learned. Review: This product works. My two cats finally stay off the table and chair now. - I was struggling to keep my two cats off of one specific chair and my dining room table. Immediately after setting these up, they stayed away. I was really looking forward to catching one or both in the act with the alarm, but that never even happened. Now I don't even turn them on any more, and the cats still stay off. I was a bit weary of the price tag, but thankfully, this product delivers on what it is supposed to. I will say that the vibration detection is so sensitive on the high setting that it was difficult to walk normally past this device without setting off the alarm. The low setting worked best for me. Just to be clear..not the best for cats.....unless they will be moving something you do not want them to go which will have moving parts...like couch or bed or attached to a door they might push through. For a dog...this might work best...but a smart stealth graceful cat...They will learn to avoid it.
