COLD STEEL ROACH BELLY KNIFE (CS-20RBC): Historically, the Roach-Bellied knife was a short blade with a pronounced upswept curve and a sharp point that saw popularity in 17th century Britain and the American Colonies. It was most likely named after the common Roach Fish, which had a similarly round curving belly. The Cold Steel model is a nod to the Black Powder Community, which has continued to appreciate the Roach Bellys economy, versatility and effectiveness. The hollow ground blade is made of sub-zero quenched German 4116 Stainless steel, expertly heat treated to RC 56-57, and given a sharp edge thats easy to maintain. Instead of the traditional wood handle, ours is made of a tough injection molded polymer, making the Roach Belly considerably more weatherproof than historical examples. The Roach Belly comes complete with a durable sheath, making it a breeze to carry all day or on extended hunting or camping adventures. Review: budget buy, for fishing, water activities - I mainly like to use carbon steel knives with scandi grinds for my outdoors activities, however I wanted to put together a knife based fishing tool kit. This way I would have all the tools I would normally need, right at my side at a moments notice. This knife fit the bill. Being stainless, I don't have to worry about rust from constantly being wet or covered in fish/bait guts. It also has a run of the mill complex bevel, which is good, because part of my kit includes a quick, easy to use smith and wesson sharpener When I'm out fishing, I don't want to break out stones and or rodes, I just want to run the knife through a basic sharpener a few times, and get back to work). Its got one of these injection molded type plastic handles. Because of this, and the stainless steel...when I get home from a trip, I just toss this thing in the dishwasher and it gets cleaned right up, no problem. Its got a lanyard, which is nice, so when I clean my knife off in the river, I don't have to worry so much about dropping it and loosing my knife. Its got a cheap cordura sheath, and I'm fine with that. I wouldn't want a nice sheath for it, because its going to get covered in guts and scales anyway. My kit includes (this knife obviously) my smith and wesson sharpener, attached to the knife sheath by ranger bands, a leatherman juice in pliers form with its sheath attached by clip and ranger bands to the knife sheath, and a mini measuring tape looped through the bottom of the knife sheath. Serves me well. Can't tell you about the tang, I just don't know, and I don't care, because this is not a rough use knife for me, no battoning or anything like that. I can tell you it feels good in the hand and is a mean slicer. It looks like they are going up in price, at least since I bought mine. If it gets over $15 I would say pass.
Review: BUEN DISEÑO EN MAL ACERO Y PEOR TERMINACIÓN DEL FILO - Referirse a este cuchillo es situarlo entre los cuchillos baratos de alto valor de uso, los Morakniv, Baco, etc Lo digo claro, es mejor un Morakniv Companion, que este , pues su acero inoxidable es mucho mas duro y fácil de afilar que el de este cuchillo de acero demasiado blando, de hecho creo que es el acero mas blandurrio de toda mi cuchillería, lo puedes afilar, pero te va a durar un telediario y nunca va acortar tan bién como el Morakniv, afilados ambos al máximo, por la naturaleza mediocre de su blando acero 4116 frente al mucho mejor acero Sandvick 12C27 con templado de la casa del Morakniv o BAHCO, El filo no aprovecha toda la longitud de la hoja, con lo que iguala la longitud de filo en ambos cuchillos, no se por que me lo quedé ahora lo habría devuelto pues tiene mas diseño que calidad intrínseca.

I mainly like to use carbon steel knives with scandi grinds for my outdoors activities, however I wanted to put together a knife based fishing tool kit. This way I would have all the tools I would normally need, right at my side at a moments notice. This knife fit the bill. Being stainless, I don't have to worry about rust from constantly being wet or covered in fish/bait guts. It also has a run of the mill complex bevel, which is good, because part of my kit includes a quick, easy to use smith and wesson sharpener When I'm out fishing, I don't want to break out stones and or rodes, I just want to run the knife through a basic sharpener a few times, and get back to work). Its got one of these injection molded type plastic handles. Because of this, and the stainless steel...when I get home from a trip, I just toss this thing in the dishwasher and it gets cleaned right up, no problem. Its got a lanyard, which is nice, so when I clean my knife off in the river, I don't have to worry so much about dropping it and loosing my knife. ### ⭐⭐ Lousy sheath

Handle is comfortable. Knife is sharp out of the box. The problem is the sheath. Knife always comes loose with very little effort. Simply holding the sheath upside down and shaking it will cause the knife to drop out. Definitely not safe for hip carry. Not sure if this is a common issue or im just unlucky.
