S. Parker Self Closing Slim Spring Hinges (4.5" x 4.5") deliver reliable, adjustable spring tension for smooth automatic door closing on medium to heavyweight metal or wood doors up to 180 lbs. Featuring a UL1278 1.5-hour fire rating and universal non-handed design, these satin brass hinges come complete with screws, Allen wrench, and installation instructions for professional-grade performance and safety.

## Description

S. Parker door closer hinges are non-handed for use in either right or left hand Doors . The hinges have been fire tested and are listed by Underwriters Laboratories for use on labeled fire doors. The hinges use a dependable coil spring design and fit into a standard 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" mortise template. The UL1278 hinges may be used with ball bearing hinges on the same door. An anti-friction bearing handles both vertical and horizontal loading, and the spring meets the toughest requirements. The adjustable spring tension may be changed before or after installation. The hinge is torque adjustable, using a set-screw, for closing speed, and comes with a wrench, adjusting pin and directionsThe hinges have an allen head on top to allow spring winding with an allen key. The UL Series have a 1 1/2 hour fire rating.Spring hinges use the energy stored during the opening swing, in the coiled spring, to close the door. For doors to 60 pounds, use one UL and two same size ball bearing hinges. For doors to 110 pounds, use two UL hinges and one same size ball bearing hinge. For doors to 160 pounds, use three UL hinges.

Recently completed a reno and my cabinet hardware and door handles are all satin brass. These are not an exact match to my Emtek Handles and Lewis Dolin pulls, but they’re very close. No one but me would know they’re not the same. And they work great. The door from the garage into the house is 9’ tall and very heavy, and my carpenters were able to adjust these to get the perfect amount of tension.

Performs as described, quality seems consistent with other commercial door hinges we have, time will tell. Included directions are not clear and difficult to understand. Be sure to install the hinge with the hex screw end upright (on top, not bottom) to ensure door is assisted in closing, not opening.
