The "wood" is hollow so there's just about enough to grip onto - however if you over tighten or unscrew and re-screw you'll probably have to pack it out with some kind of putty/resin/glue to give the screw something to grip onto. Very slidey top. Ended up gluing a faux leather square onto it.
