I stick to the recommended size. Check out You Tube videos. A Cherry on Top is one in which larger ones are used with the Mini. **Q: Can I use the 3/4 inch binding wires with the Mini Cinch?** A: Yes–just partially close the rings manually, then place it onto the Cinch. I combine it with my die cuts and Cricut machine to make journal covers which I then bind into journals of various sizes. They turned out really cool. Each is unique and one of a kind. While, true, it did arrive dirty, I was able to remove the dirt. It must have been some sort of production thing. Had nothing to do with performance. My machine punched perfectly, bound nicely, yielding wonderful results. I’m so glad I purchased it. For such a tiny little machine it does such a big job.
