At first I had a horrible time with this because one side would close great, but the other side would smack against it without the lever going up and over to allow the gate to auto-close. I tried using a metal file to smooth the edges all to no avail.Finally after watching and observing and thinking about it I realized the issue was where on the latch it was striking. The working side hit the latch much further up on the hinge compared to the non-working side. So I removed it and built up the mount until the gate struck it at the appropriate location on the latch. Now everything is working well.I also like the fact that it is designed so that the latch won't stay in an upright position, it will fall back down after it has been raised.
