This book is not only well written, but also well researched.  Dr. Knoblet's research reveals one of the most detailed looks into the life of Herod the Great, while at the same time the content of his book is easily understood.

This book is poorly written.  There are many punctuational mistakes, the book does not flow well, and it is generally hard to read.  Despite these facts, the book does contain a wealth of information about Herod's life and the time period in which he lived.  You just have to be able to reorganize yourself, in your mind, which is rather a pain.
