Holds more than your average bottle, and the lid/carrying mechanisms are great.BUT these leak, especially after filling. I thought it may have been an isolated case, but a classmate has the same item and voiced equal frustration over this issue. It's ok, but I would invest in a higher quality product. The leaking is really annoying.

Lid mysteriously unscrews itself, get the nipple.

*by D***S on Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2017*

All my friends own the nipple-lid CamelBak. I wanted something fresh, new, and less like a sippy cup. Less than a week after my attempt to break free from the social norm of the nipple, and the inside of my backpack, along with my precious notebooks for school, were drenched. But maybe it was my fault, maybe I didn't screw the cap on properly. I believe in user error and second chances. From then on, I took precautions, pausing to double check a tight seal after every sip and refill. Still a month later, the top unscrewed itself, once again drowning the contents of my backpack, now including a library book, in wet regret. After walking home in wet pants, I found I do not believe in third chances. I have surrendered my individuality and prescribed to the nipple-lid lifestyle.*Two stars because the bottle itself is still good, and CamelBak sells lids separately.

    Some Bottles Leak, Some Don't

*by S***M on Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2018*

I have two of these water bottles. One of them never leaks, and one does. For anyone who is confused about why some reviewers say their water bottles leak and some say theirs never leak, it's because some of these water bottles are dramatically higher quality than others. I purchased a purple one in 2017 that's awesome. It's super easy to clean, no funny smells after a year of use, and it has never once leaked, ever. A couple months ago I purchased a second one in charcoal. This one does leak. I've spent some time thinking on why that is and how other purchasers can tell if they've bought a bottle that'll leak within the return window. It seems to me that Camelbak made some minor changes to this water bottle at some point in time, and that the newer bottles are more likely to leak. Some other reviewers have complained that their water bottles get scuffed easily, and I've found the charcoal one is far less likely to do that. The plastic and rubbery lid material also feel different, and it has different markings and numbers on the bottom (photo attached). Notice how the fork and cup positions are switched on the inferior bottle. As another reviewer has mentioned, the leaking issue is caused by the cap not twisting on completely on one side and leaving a gap for water to escape. The newer bottles seem to have a few defects in design and materials that make this much more likely to happen.Signs of a Dud:-No matter how tight you close the lid, you should still be able to move the blue plastic ring below it that's attached to the cap. If you can close the lid so tight the ring below it can't move, that's a sign of a bad water bottle.-When you twist the cap on and off to drink, it shouldn't feel like it catches anywhere. The bottle I have that leaks is a bit more difficult to close than the one that doesn't, which twists on completely smoothly.-When the cap is off, you should be able to twist it inside the blue ring completely smoothly. If it doesn't seem to want to turn, you've got a dud.-I've attached photos of the bottoms of my two water bottles, which have different markings. If yours has the same numbers on the bottom, especially if it's in the same color, that's a sign it may be from the same production run as my crappy bottle. If you receive your water bottle and it shows any of these signs, you should return it and order another one if you can, maybe in a different color or from a different supplier. Based on the reviews it seems that the charcoal ones experience more issues with leaking. If you already own a water bottle that leaks, you can still use it and even throw it in your bag with the rest of your stuff--you just have to check the cap first. If the cap is completely flush with the lid all the way around, the water bottle shouldn't leak. If you aren't paying attention and the cap goes on wrong and then you throw your water bottle on the bed, that's when spills happen. Next time your water bottle leaks, take a look at how the cap is sitting and you'll see what I mean, or look very closely at the images another user posted of this issue.
