I am not sold on the grade levels 2-8, though. She is 7 years old and has completed the first half of this book rather readily. I would scale this for younger years -- K-3. I would still recommend the book, because it does build visual discrimination skills, which are essential to developing critical thinking. Updated 04/21/2013 We finished the book readily. It was harder by the end, which I liked, because it really challenged her to look closely to find the pattern. If they could create an entire book that was like the last few pages, that would be a great next step in the series. Well worth the monies spent, though! Review: Great for 2-3 grade students - We had purchased this book for our second grade kid primarily to practice for COGAT tests, this book has been very useful, the COGAT test is done and we are awaiting results, will update once the results are out to see how much this book helped. Overall the questions were good and my kid really enjoyed practicing from this book, I was there all the time sitting besides him and help him whenever he had any issues understanding the patterns. There are more than adequate number of examples. After practicing a number of pages the person started to understand the patterns. it is still hard but the person is getting better at it each day. I rated it four because I thought their could be more guidance within the book on how to gradually build up your skill. The book is basically the same through out. There is a picture and it changes into the next picture. once you figure out how it changed you have to look for the same pattern with-in the example. Overall it is a good book with many examples. really does help with visual discrimination skills.
