I would think that on metal / plastic, you should be fine for a couple of hours even in 100 degree heat. I've had problems with residue where the tape has been outside for 6 days of 90-105 degree heat. No more need to rip thin strips out of 2" wide rolls, and less mass to haul around onstage.
