The unfortunate truth for me is that it just didn't hold up and wasn't accurate enough over time for me. Also the calibration solutions for this meter are inconvenient.The company does have really good customer support though, that I can do nothing but brag about. The first unit I ordered broke after a month or two of use. Just kept giving me a 0000 reading. Tried to recalibrate, held down different buttons, took out the battery put it back in, bought a new battery. The unit was donezo.I wrote the company about the product fault and they, sent me the typical "try doing this stuff first response" which didn't really bother me, but I followed up after doing the things they suggested and they promptly sent me a new unit without the inconvenience of having to send the faulty pH meter back.Here's what kind of got under my skin. My plants starting showing signs of nutrient block on a lot of their older leaves, Well, it was either nutrient block or a lack of magnesium or calcium, but I know my plants were getting the nutrients they crave... Brawndo© "The thirst mutilator"Ok that was a bad joke, but honestly, I know they were getting enough nutrients, so that leaves two other options. Were my plants getting powdery mildew or was a nutrient being blocked for some reason (probably the pH). So at this point I need to know if I'm getting an accurate reading from my meter, so I borrowed a buddy's meter who payed $70 for his. I tested them both against each other and my results were off by a full .5 pH. I have just about a .5 window to keep my feed in so my plants are able to absorb them all properly. I don't have the luxury of dealing with that kind of margin of error. So I went back onto the Amazon marketplace and selected a different pH meter at a completely higher price point ~60 bucks and tested all three meters against each other. The two expensive meters registered within .03 from each other and this POS was still half a point off.I just don't have room to be making that kind of error in what I'm doing, and continuing along would have been really detrimental to my crops. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. I'm not trying to calibrate this thing with it's unique powders weekly just to be able to have a semi-reliable reading off of it. Not worth IMO. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars appears to work as advertised *by S***G on Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2018* Supposed to calibrate it first, they say using distilled water with their 3 packets of different buffer powders. I didn't want to go out & buy a gallon of distilled, so just went with the filtered tap water I hope to monitor moving forward. First test with the water buffered to 6.86, the uncalibrated device read 6.78, so it wasn't too badly calibrated out of the box.Only small concern with subsequent H2O testing was, first reading was always highest, after the ~30 second settle-down wait. So I'd use the device as a stirrer for a couple seconds & let it settle again. After that quick stir, it always settles 0.05 - 0.1 lower. Lower again after a 2nd stir, and further stirs would then settle at about the 2nd stir level. Not sure why this is; nothing about the nature of the water changes from those first 2 stirs! ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars There is a learning curve *by R***L on Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2019* I ordered this pH meter for my hydroponic pepper garden. It works well, but I have some advice for those using this meter. The instructions are adequate but not entirely clear. Once calibrated, this meter reads the correct pH. The trick I have found to take stable readings is to turn the meter on and place in RO water for about 3 minutes to wet the glass bulb. It won't work with a dry bulb. Don't try to read pH of pure 1-2 ppm RO water, there are not enough ions in solution. I checked the calibration with the buffers sent with the product after one month and the calibration is stable. I store my unit standing up with the bulb down. The display is a little difficult to read because the LCD is on the dim side and there is no backlight . Overall I give it 3 stars.
