The coil spring and tape stiffness are noticeably better, which makes it much easier to use. I have a few in my shop now. It's solidly built and has a belt clip on the back although it's so tight, it take effort to open the clip wide enough to attach it. Since I don't use the clip this wasn't a negative for me; however, the one thing I don't like is that it doesn't auto-stop when extended - which is what I prefer. It does have a logically placed button the user to press to lock the measure when it's extended. If you have light work for it you'll be fine, but if you do heavy work especially outdoors and any wind you might find this is too flimsy for you. The case, hi-vis, double sided, etc is great.
