Review: I wanted a smaller/lighter tool - I looked at shears at local stores and they were all big, heavy and expensive. I wanted a smaller/lighter weight version and found it with these Genesis shears. They work just fine for cutting metal roofing. I use them anytime I am cutting metal/tin for craft projects too. You can cut straight lines and around curves. I used them to cut out metal blades for wind spinners and found that I could cut straight lines quickly and then use my hand snips/shears to cut around tight curves. The price is very good for these compared to name brands and they work just as good.

A: Nope, you'll gum up the shears, and dull them out post haste.

A: I haven't tried it. But I would think so if it is not real brittle.

**Q: i need to cut felt padding for carpets.  Will this do the job without fraying the cloth?**
A: Nope. These shears are primarily for sheet metal. They'll play hell trying to cut felt, and then the felt will look like hell...

I looked at shears at local stores and they were all big, heavy and expensive. I wanted a smaller/lighter weight version and found it with these Genesis shears. They work just fine for cutting metal roofing. I use them anytime I am cutting metal/tin for craft projects too. You can cut straight lines and around curves. I used them to cut out metal blades for wind spinners and found that I could cut straight lines quickly and then use my hand snips/shears to cut around tight curves. The price is very good for these compared to name brands and they work just as good.

PRO: What I like is that will cut 14ga per the ad. I have only used it so far on hardware cloth. Works sorta well. Cons: Heavy, after a few minutes use, fatigue will set in. Bottom cutting jaw reciprocates and top jaw is fixed. When trying to cut something on a table surface, you cannot rest the tool on that surface or it'll bounce with each reciprocating cycle. This makes it difficult to cut screen or chicken wire with large hole spacing. Cutting hardware cloth will leave little 1/4" fragments due to the dual cutting blade setup.
