I bought this and two other Fantastic Floatables for my son's 4th birthday party. I had a rocket and a regular round balloon floating around for his party. I put the weights on the Astronaut so that he stood up like those old fashioned inflatable punching bags (which, the ballon inevitably became with a bunch of 4 year olds). I did not apply the weights so that it would float around and preferred it that way. Based on my experience with the other two balloons, however, I can tell you it's totally fun to have the balloons floating in mid-air. I also sat my 8 month old in front of the balloon and he laughed and laughed as he watched it spring back and forth from hitting it.
