It is a synthetic lacquer and is not as hot as traditional organic lacquer. **Q: Doing my first repaint attempt on a thrift store Barbie. Would this be good to seal her face, before and/or after painting?** A: Yes, this is perfect for both before and after sealing if you are using colored pencils, pastels, or acrylic paint. I don't know what it would do with oil paint. Be sure to mask off her hair first, because it will stick her hair together and make a mess.
