**Q: What does mattery mean it says no battery needed how does it work please?**
A: My guess is that it is a typo and they meant battery powered. Also my guess is they are trying to say that there is no battery included. This unit does required one AA battery. I would suggest they find someone who speaks English to write the description of the product for them, as it probably was made in China.

**Q: is this a outdoor mechanism for outdoor clocks**
A: If the clock is an outdoor clock then the mechanisms will be.

**Q: How long will one new alkaline battery work without replacement?**
A: Impossible to accurately answer. A lot of difference between Sunbeam economy batteries purchased at the dollar store and a premium battery such as Duracell or Energizer. The power draw on these quartz clocks is minimal. With a good battery I would anticipate between 9-12 months. I used a gold inexpensive Harbor Freight brand battery with mine and so far it's lasted almost 4 months.

**Q: My second hand moves but hour and minute hands don’t movr. Solution?**
A: If the hour and minute hands don't move try cleaning the mechanism with a delicate flow of air using a liquid dispensing bottle pump without any liquid in it. This air will displace any dust that may be jamming the mechanism. If that doesn't work; you've got a defective mechanism - return it for replacement.  BTW, these mechanisms are prone to short life MTBF due to their delicate structures.

It works fine (at least for now). I have an old wall-hanging multi-instrument piece that had a battery operated clock. That part failed. Because this was a gift I wanted to see if I could salvage it. Where else to find obscure devices than on Amazon? I was somewhat doubtful, because I couldn't see how not one but to mechanisms and assorted hands could be delivered for the price, but I ordered it. Between the two devices and the assorted hands (plus a few necessary miscellaneous pieces, you'll have all you need. It's more difficult to extract the old mechanism than it is to install the new.
