Actions speak louder than words. I used to buy the singles at WalMart, until WalMart was either constantly sold out of them, or stopped carrying them (I am not sure which). Now, I order them from desertcart in bulk. The fact of the matter is, the singles are just so convienient. Special Processed American Meat (SPAM) is an American icon. It has served through two world wars. It is a staple in the state of Hawaii. It inspired a skit and a song from Monty Python's Flying Circus (did you catch the headline at the top of this review?). Essentially, SPAM is pork shoulder and pork butt ground up, smooshed into a cube, and cooked in it's own can. If you never tried SPAM, go to your grocery store, pick up a can (or if you are lucky enough to find the singles, pick up a single) and try it. **Q: Is the spam sliced or one piece like in the can or chunks ?**
A: It is one piece that is shaped like a slice, but is not a slice. It is the size of a double.slice, or a slice off the broadside of a loaf of Spam. It is the size of two slices off the end of a loaf of Spam.

But, it is a formed piece, not an actual slice. A key difference is that, if you try to fry these up. the outside of the Slice peels off and sticks to the pan in a way that an actual slice would never do. We eat these raw with cheese and dipped in mustard, or we dice them and cook them into scrambled eggs or a rice dish.

But, they will not fry like a regular slice of Spam.

**Q: Expiry date**

A: The world is out of Solyent Green now, so they had to switch to Soylent Yellow, so it's an 80%:20% mix.

A: they still need to be stored in a cool place.  Not sure how my friend stored theirs but when we opened it during camping it was yellow and it wasn’t expired.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Arrived just fine - tasty and convenient as always.

I would like to chime in and say I feel sympathy for the other reviewer that got a spoiled batch of Spam Singles; but luckily for me it wasn't the case. I received two display packs with 12 singles in each. The display packs are similar to the ones you see in stores where they would sell these individually. I'm not sure what the popularity with Spam is as of lately, but the price of it has skyrocketed on Amazon across the board and I hope it's doesn't keep rising. In most retail chain stores, a single serve package like this would retail at $1.50 tops; so seeing it at $30 or more on Amazon for 24 single slices is kinda insane and blatantly a rip off. As much as I love Spam and the convenience these pouches bring, it's still way more efficient to buy the canned version and cut it up yourself. They usually stay good for up to week out of the can in the fridge anyway. That being said what's nice about these particular pouches however is the shelf life - as mine were rated to be expired 2 1/2 years from purchase. Good stuff all around, and a delicious food when grilled and served with rice.
