You do not need tools to assemble this, but I would recommend them. The tools make the assembly process go faster. Before purchasing this bed, I read a comment saying you need mattress slide stoppers. You do! I ordered them just in case, and that was a good decision. The mattress will slide without them. They are fairly inexpensive on desertcart. Overall, I really like the bed frame! Great product!
