The grain orientation is perfect on the handle, it literally runs straight up and down and the head of the axe is nicely seated on the shoulder. Overall the quality and craftsmanship of this product is top of the line. I'm glad I could scoop one up, since the retail store that I was going to get it from recently stopped selling it. Everything looks pristine, and you can't really tell from the seller's photos but the edge is mirror polished and extremely sharp. Swung at a big 64" diameter tree on my property that I've been hacking away at every now and then and it just feels excellent.
