## Overview

The MXR Sub Octave Bass Fuzz M287 is a professional-grade analog effects pedal engineered specifically for bassists seeking powerful, customizable fuzz tones combined with a growling sub octave. Featuring three independent output level controls, dual fuzz voices, and comprehensive EQ knobs, it delivers a versatile sonic palette that retains your instrument’s natural clarity while adding thunderous low end and midrange punch. Compact and durable, it’s powered by 9V battery or external supply, making it a must-have for bass players who demand both tone and reliability.

## Description

The sub octave bass fuzz dishes out thunderous low end with earth-shaking fuzz. To create this sonic behemoth, mar's engineers combined the growl section of the bass octave deluxe with a long-forgotten fuzz circuit. With three separate output level controls for the fuzz, sub octave, and dry signals, you can create your own recipe of subterranean tones without sacrificing any of your instruments natural sound. Further versatility comes in the form of the fuzz section’s tone controls and two switchable voices-warm and compressed or bright and aggressive-along with the mid level control, which allows you to give your dry signal some more punch in the midrange.

Review: Absolutely Must-Have Effect! - I’m a pedal junky. Unsatisfied with how many of my guitar-based pedals didn’t work for bass I’ve been trying MXRs and I’m SO glad I did! Disappointed with the bass octaver and chorus pedals, I tried one more time with this, their Bass Envelope Filter, and Bass Overdrive and I couldn’t be happier! I’ll stick to the Fuzz here, obviously. The two-option fuzz is worth the price of admission; either will keep you sonically experimenting for quite a while. But then add in the octave options and you are playing the serious hell-raising sounds you always imagined you could play but never found! Unlike many guitar fuzz pedals that say they work with bass, they’re not designed to work with bass and that’s important. Many of those type sound muddy when used with bass frequencies. Not MXR. This pedal (and the other two I mentioned) are crisp and distinctive even in the haze of their own distortions. If I could only buy one pedal for my bass, this would be the one (so far!)
Review: Big fat tone!!! - This & the MXR bass DI+ make an extremely, extremely flexible, simple distortion/ octave setup with or without an amplifier! Great quality gear👍👍

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Im lookink for a Octave pedal so Is this pedal better than the MXR288? Does it have the same Mid option as the 288?**
A: It is not as good as the 288

**Q: Is this better than getting the MXR bass fuzz and octave pedals separately?**
A: I would assume so. The pedal is great. I wouldn’t buy them separately. Probably more expensive and takes up more room on pedal board.

**Q: Can I use this with a bass guitar?**
A: This is designed for a Bass.

John / Sales

**Q: Is this pedal 240 volts or is this a misprint?**
A: I'm in NZ and we have 240 volts and it's working just fine. That's all I can tell you sorry.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Big fat tone!!!

This & the MXR bass DI+ make an extremely, extremely flexible, simple distortion/ octave setup with or without an amplifier! Great quality gear👍👍

### ⭐⭐⭐ Good effects, leds didnt work right
*by F***D on September 20, 2021*

Everything sounded great, but the leds wouldnt turn on for the corresponding effects that were on. There was definitely something wired wrong. I was kinda torn, it was just bothersome enough that it would be an issue, it definitely didnt work right... tho, i did only use a battery, the battery was full. After i sent it back i had ordered a different pedal that didnt quite work right until i used an adapter.... so.... maybe user error.... or batteries are a bad idea.
