West Virginia Penitentiary (Images of America)

You can tell the author put a lot of time and effort into assembling the pictures that would be included in this book. Each one tells its own story, and you can really get a sense why the Penitentiary was on the governments top 10 most dangerous facilities list. If anyone is even remotely interested in the history of the West Virginia Penitentiary or of prisons in general, this is a must own.

I recently visited this penitentiary and as it was the last tour of the day, the gift shop was closed and I wasn't able to pick up some keepsakes. But finding this book made up for that. It's a great photo history of the site and highly recommend it for anyone thinking of visiting Moundsville.

I got to tour the prison last year with my daughter's gifted class, the book really brought to the life that whole experience. The book is well written and the photo's were wonderful! A must read for history buffs, especially those from WV!
