My husband laughed at me & told me I wasted more money (so many times we were almost weaned off paci & then too many meltdowns & I would buy new ones to keep the peace). First night we read book, she fascinated, giggled with book etc. By day 7 of book we were down to only 1 paci for sleeping. By day 14, she suddenly wasn't even asking for paci. Day 15, all pacifiers are completely out of our house! We didn't even throw her a party like the book suggested. We did give her 2 new stuffed animals like book suggested, but I'm not even sure she cared. It's like she just said ok I agree with this book, I'm done with it. No meltdowns at all......she is 2 yrs 11 months and we've struggled for last 6 months, but yet now we are paci free!! Best $8 book ever!!! I'm still in shock, but this book Absolutely appeals to 2-3 year olds!!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great book for preparing your child for no pacifiers *by R***S on October 15, 2024* We read this book for about a month before we finally took the pacifier away from my son permanently. I truly believe it helped in the transition from a paci at night to no more at all. It helped prepare him for the idea that he's giving away his paci and that they won't be around forever. Some days I wish I had a paci for him for my own sanity (they really are miracles) but that's not the book's fault haha! Either way this helped in the transition and I'm glad we had it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Helped prepare my son to say “bye bye, paci!” *by S***E on July 2, 2019* It was time for the paci to go and I was looking for a book to help prepare my 2 year old for the transition. He loves to read and truly connects with books, so we got this one. He was very intrigued and he wanted to read it over and over. We did improvise some of the words... like using “paci” for all references to the pacifier since that’s what we call it. I weaved in a part where a garbage truck was going to pick up the paci “from the trashy,” which is what was going to happen at our house. I would ask him if he was ready to put his paci in the trashy and he started to say yes. By the time we did it, we had him put his pacies in the big garbage for the garbage truck to take on garbage day. He was so excited to do it. The “garbage truck” left him a fun package at the door step later that day and that was it! He never cried for the paci, but did ask for it the first night. I reminded him the garbage truck took it and he said, “yeah.” We would read the book as a reminder of what happened and why. The second night, he looked at his bed at bedtime and stated “garbage truck took paci.” That was the last I heard of the paci.
