Review: great product - works better than any other product...
Review: Purple battery goo in a can that takes forever to dry. Well its the best thing on the market and works most of the time. - Update at the end. I have used this several times since I wrote the original review. I'm not sure how this will work long term but short term it has eliminated my very small battery leak. I normally don't trust 'fix it in a can' type solutions but I have seen shops use this same product. My guess is that it works on small leaks but not on large leaks. I tried to wait for this stuff to dry but finally gave up and put the battery back in my car. I used 2 coats. I made paper cutouts that I taped to the battery since the spray can is hard to use accurately. I basically cut the size of the terminal plus about 1/2 circles in the paper and sprayed all over. The result was good. I didn't have a totally purple battery. You could probably 'fix' small leaks in a ton of batteries with one can if you use 2 coats and don't go crazy with it. Update: I have used this to keep several batteries from leaking. I had a battery leak on a one year old car recently. I talked to the dealership after I had cleaned the battery and terminal and sprayed this on they told me that they would have done the same thing with the same product. In my experience, this spray may seal the terminal and keep the corrosion from spreading for anywhere from 6 months to a year or more. You still have to check your battery frequently, even on a new car. Check your fluids while you are at it. As long as cars have been around, battery leaks have been around. I don't know if that is accurate but it is my experience. If you find it early, clean everything and spray this stuff on the base of the terminal where the lead and plastic meet you have made the best effort to try and fix it. Wipe off any that gets on the terminals where the connection to the cable is going to be. Slap the cable back on and forget about waiting for it to dry. (it takes a really long time to dry) I tape off the battery terminal sometimes to avoid getting the spray all over. Wiping it off works as well. One can of this can probably 'treat' 100 batteries if used sparingly. Or it can treat a few batteries many times. (that is more likely the case with me) Monitor the leak frequently. Repeat the process if necessary. If it really won't stop, consider getting a new battery or being really dedicated to cleaning it up and spraying this stuff and eventually realize that you just need a new battery. This is what the dealer uses on new car batteries if a leak if reported or they find it themselves. Its not a perfect product in that it will not stop every leak but if it is a small enough leak and you detect the leak early enough, it can most likely buy your battery another 1-3 of life. (they don't last much more than 3-5 years anyway) You may have to spray it once per year in some cases. I spray it on the other side if only one side is leaking. (to maybe prevent a leak that hasn't started yet) I'm not sure if that helps or not. Maybe I should spray it on new batteries. Hmm, I might try it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ New Label, same old product
*by M***K on January 22, 2026*

Different label, but the same great product as the older type. Sprays out in a purple color, and is great for protecting my battery terminals. If you liked the old Permatex you will like this.
