It does catch and slide off runners if you put really heavy stuff on one side and light on the other, but otherwise is smooth. We think it’s GREAT We screwed a fairly big plank of solid wood into the joists of our utility ceiling and then attached it to that. If you have a small space then you really need to think about where you place it as it doesn’t hang perfectly central to the stencil they send you for drilling. Will show in video.
