(A few days later) UltraFire quickly sent me a replacement for the non-functioning light so the rating is back up to a 5, for what it is. It is an inexpensive Chinese led flashlight. I keep a spare battery near the flashlight or in my backpack when I travel. But the batteries last a long time. The only issue I have had is an occasional battery leak using cheaper AA batteries (R-----OV---C). If the battery leaks inside the flashlight, it usually destroys the flashlight. Since the flashlights are inexpensive it is not a big deal expect for reliability. Now I use E----R or D----L batteries. If I am storing the flashlight for long periods, like backup lights for power failures or attic jumps, I take the battery out and store it next to the flashlight. I leave the cap loose but on the flashlight to make installation faster and remind me to insert a battery. I have compared the light beam on these flashlights to expensive tactical flashlights costing 10x as much and these are just as bright and use a single AA battery. I flashed the beam about 1/2 mile over a lake and could see it on the far shoreline. Suggest staying away from AAA batteries that are more expensive and don't last) or the fancy 14500 batteries. Don't waste your money. I have dropped these flashlights in water and mud crawling under trailers and they keep working. Give them out as gifts at Christmas and everybody loves them. **Q: Cannot find 3.7v 14500 batteries? Other (non-3.7v) kinds that come up and regular AA are not as bright, any recommendations?** A: Ultrafire sells there own 14500 Li-ion rechargeable battery. All you have to do is buy the battery and intelligent charger. I use the Nitecore D2 and EBL brand 14500 batteries. I use the ultrafire SK68 led flashlights, and I have recharged the batteries about 6 times. All flashlights and batteries work well together. The flashlights appear and function as described in the Amazon ad. I tested with a fresh AA high-quality battery and they appear adequately bright to me, although I cannot confirm the advertised lumen output. They seem to be quite sturdy and I did not find the zoom head to be loose when extended, as was written in another review. (Perhaps that customer received a bad shipment or wrote the review in the wrong product page, IDK.) Though I am not an expert on the UltraFire brand, all the packaging and items I received had the UltraFire logo and trademark and the documentation referred to contact them if necessary and included their name plainly in the web address "ultrafire". I feel these are a great value at $3.06 each as in the package of five. If these were made in the U.S.A., I might pay up to $5 each for these in order to support a more local economy. I might buy more later for gifts. The Yank: No big complaints really. The dimensions are as described, though I would suggest two improvements: extend the length of the metal body approximately 0.5 to 1mm at each end. The reasons are as follows. 1) At the head, the convex lens protrudes in line with the tactical head. So the lens would be better protected from scratching or other damage (such as when standing it on end) if the metal head were slightly proud of the lens. 2) At the end with the toggle button, the button protrudes slightly proud of the metal ring around it, so the flashlight is not very stable when standing on that end.
