Review: Exceeds expectations. Handle will fit large hands. - I have big hands and this fits me. Experienced knife user and this exceeds expectations. Sharpens well. Cuts great. Comfortable to wear even while active. Good sheath stays secure on belt even when removing the knife. Wasn’t sure about the angled blade but the motions to use it are natural for a variety of tasks. I recommend it and would certainly buy it again if needed. Review: Solid little blade - Other than the fact it’s stamped with “Made in Taiwan” right on the blade it an awesome little knife. I’ve only had it for a day so I can’t attest to its’ longevity but I’m only using it as a self defense weapon, not an everyday blade for opening boxes and such. It’s razor sharp out of the box. The weight feels good in your hand but isn’t not even noticeable when it’s on a belt or even gym shorts. It deploys easily if it’s anchored to a belt but a little trickier with gym shorts. It still deploys but you have to tug a bit harder to get it out which, is probably a good thing. The clip is reversible which is really nice. It gives you the choice to not only carry right or left side but you can choose which way the handle is positioned too. I reversed mine so when it’s on my right side the knife will deploy with the blade in my palm so it’s facing away from my body. I prefer this position as I can still close my fist easily with the handle in my hand. This is the preferred method of carry for self defense purposes. All-in-all I’m very happy with this knife. For the price point you can’t go wrong. I compared it to a lot of similar knives and I’m glad I chose this one. ## Features - 2.31 Inch Drop Point Blade: KA-BAR TDI Fixed Blade Knife features a compact drop point blade designed for precise cutting and everyday utility tasks. - AUS‑8 Steel Blade: Durable AUS‑8 steel blade with matte finish offers strength, corrosion resistance, and reliable edge retention. - Black Zytel Handle: Lightweight Zytel handle provides a secure and comfortable grip for improved control. - Includes Protective Sheath: KA-BAR TDI knife comes with a fitted sheath for safe storage and convenient carry. - Compact Utility Tool: Suitable for camping gear, hiking equipment, outdoor kits, and general cutting applications. - Angled Handle Geometry: Designed to promote a natural grip position for controlled handling measures 5-5/8 inches overall. - Low‑Profile Blade Finish: Matte surface helps reduce glare and adds a clean tactical look. - Reliable Everyday Utility: Suitable for routine cutting tasks and outdoor gear setups. - Lightweight Build: Designed to minimize carry weight while maintaining dependable strength. - Duty‑Ready Design: Built to integrate easily with professional gear and everyday carry setups. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B001H53QAI | | Age Range (Description) | Adult | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Best Sellers Rank | #116,459 in Sports & Outdoors ( See Top 100 in Sports & Outdoors ) #161 in Tactical Knives #498 in Hunting Knives | | Blade Edge | Straight | | Blade Length | 8 inches | | Blade Material | Stainless Steel | | Blade Shape | Straight Back | | Blade Type | Drop Point | | Brand | KA-BAR | | Brand Name | KA-BAR | | Color | black | | Customer Package Type | Standard Retail Packaging | | Customer Reviews | 4.8 out of 5 stars 2,761 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00617717214806 | | Hand Orientation | Ambidextrous | | Handle Material | Glass Reinforced Nylon | | Included Components | TDI ORIGINAL | | Item Length | 7.5 inches | | Item Shape | Knife | | Item Type Name | KA-BAR TDI Law Enforcement Straight Edge Knife | | Item Weight | 90.7 g | | Manufacturer | KA-BAR Knives | | Model Name | 1480 | | Model Number | 1480 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Orientation | blade down | | Part Number | 1480 | | Power Source | Manual | | Product Care Instructions | Avoid extreme heat, Handle with care | | Recommended Uses For Product | Hunting | | Reusability | Reusable | | Set Name | TDI Law Enforcement | | Size | 8" | | Special Feature | Reversible Sheath, Black Metal Belt Clip, Textured Zytel Handle | | Special Features | Reversible Sheath, Black Metal Belt Clip, Textured Zytel Handle | | Style | Plain Edge | | Theme | Law Enforcement | | UPC | 617717214806 745369171939 693529104559 | | Unit Count | 1 Ounce | ## Product Details - **Age Range (Description):** Adult - **Blade Material:** Stainless Steel - **Brand:** KA-BAR - **Color:** black - **Handle Material:** Glass Reinforced Nylon - **Included Components:** TDI ORIGINAL - **Model Name:** 1480 - **Recommended Uses For Product:** Hunting - **Special Feature:** Reversible Sheath, Black Metal Belt Clip, Textured Zytel Handle - **Style:** Plain Edge ## Images ![KA-BAR TDI Law Enforcement Fixed Blade Knife 2.3125" Drop Point AUS-8 Matte Blade Zytel Handle Black - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51GULIHzOkL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Is this knife a full tang ?** A: Yes. **Q: Is this considered a dagger in California?** A: Yes, this is considered a dirk or dagger in California. However, it is perfectly legal to carry as long as it is on your belt. If it is sheathed on your belt, it is being carried openly. The exception to all of this is Los Angeles county, where you cannot carry a blade longer than 3", and obviously you cannot carry it in government buildings, schools, hospitals, etc. in any county. The relevant California penal code is 21310, and Los Angeles ordinances 13.62.010 - 020 **Q: This illegal in ca cause it is a defense tool and for no other purpose** A: I use mine for work every day. It is a tool by definition. A knife has many purposes and not only for defense! It would never hold up in court with even a rookie lawyer! **Q: description look like 2 different sheath's, does it come with 2?** A: I only got one with mine. I don't recall seeing two sheath in the ad when I bought mine........ Its the hard black plastic sheath with the belt clip. It fits loose on most of my belts so I slip a 1/2' high steel bar between the under side of the clip and top of me belt... ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceeds expectations. This knife is also virtually undetectable under a shirt. Only downside is the holster it comes with is rather floppy, especially on my thinner nylon belt. Although this issue is easily solved by unscrewing the clip, clamping your belt in between and screwing it back down. The retention on mine is very heavy, just pulling on the knife may not get it out if you are a person with weaker hands, but pushing on the holster with your thumb (the intended way) helps to release it from the holster. This knife definitely isn't going anywhere unless you want it to. Also, all the screws in the holster come with blue thread locker on them, which is a nice touch. This knife is also not for general use, the steel is not designed to be used regularly and the edge will not hold up for very long if you use it for everyday tasks. Overall this knife excels at the use case it was designed for. A easily concealable, last-ditch weapon. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great self-defense knife. Cons: The screws are tiny and can strip easily if you over tighten them. also, the L shaped Torx wrench included is not double ended, and makes removing the screws take quite a lot of time. If I had to make an improvement, it would be larger screws, and a double ended tool to speed up maintenance/configuration changes. ## Frequently Bought Together - KA-BAR TDI Law Enforcement Straight Edge Knife,Black - Ka-Bar TDI Law Enforcement Knife with Straight Edge, Black, Large - Ka-Bar Metal Belt Clip for TDI Knives, Black, Small --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/43756632-ka-bar-tdi-law-enforcement-fixed-blade-knife-2-3125](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/43756632-ka-bar-tdi-law-enforcement-fixed-blade-knife-2-3125) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-07*
