This contactor is rated at 40 Amps and has a 24 Volt coil. This contactor has a heavy lug terminal and 4 male quick connect ¼” terminals on each line voltage connection to provide maximum wiring flexibility. The two terminals for the low voltage coil each have double ¼” male quick connects. The contact mechanism is enclosed to keep out insects and debris, but the visible plunger provides positive verification that the contacts are pulled in. The coil is encapsulated with no exposed tape wrapping. The mounting base measures 2-5/16” X 1-15/16” with four oblong mounting holes 1-5/8” x 1-5/8” on center. There are also four slots in the base to provide many mounting options. This part replaces most residential one pole contactors. The 24 volt coil is rated at 6 VA sealed / 31 VA inrush. I used to replace 30 amp relay in a central air conditioning unit. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ DIY Level - Dangerous *by K***. on June 11, 2023* When working on something that runs on 240VAC it's really important to do things safely. Turn Off the breakers to the compressor and the inside unit before doing anything. This fixed my AC problem. Couple weeks ago during a late night storm my AC quit working. Or at least the compressor wouldn't come on. Inside unit seemed to be Ok. The compressor unit is about 8-9 years old, so I at first figured it was the starting capacitor - changed it out for a new one - no luck. There was a possibility that the low-voltage wiring might be the problem - its about four decades old. Check it - it was good. So I ordered a new contractor unit, based on the model/part number of the old one - which has been discontinued. The new one didn't look anything like the old one. It was actually a two-pole one instead of a single-pole. So I ordered one of these - based on appearance and specifications. Took about a half hour to install. Flipped back On the breakers - crossed my fingers and turned on my AC. Compressor chugged to life and cool air commensed to blow. Yea! One hitch in all of this. The label on the new piece shows the wiring mirrored to what my old part shows. So I had to make a decision - flip the wiring or hook it up like the old part. Tough decision. I went with doing it the way the old one was wired. And that seems to worked Ok. Side note. Looking at the old part - there is a little cover on the front. Opening that up you can see the relay contacts. Both contacts were heavily carbonized. My guess is I could have simply cleaned those contact points up a bit and gotten a few more years out of it. But still, for the price a whole new part is better than an almost ten year old one. I'm happy with my purchase.
