Another reviewer mentioned installing a curtain rod a few inches above the top, with PVC pipe over the rod, so that if the cat tried to clamber over the PVC, it wouldn't get traction. We did that, and it didn't work--our cat did manage to get traction and climb over the PVC. We gave up on this gate. **Q: do you need to take gate down to enter a room?** A: You can put a hinge or two of them on so it's a swinging gate. We have something like that. **Q: Has anyone tried using the 44 inch tall gate in a 28 inch doorway?** A: The 2 doorways I use it in are 30 inches and I use it on the 3rd notch so I bet it would fit on the 2nd or 1st notch. The other doorway in the kitchen I put the gate just on the inside of the doorway against 2 counters. They work great!! **Q: Does someone make a mesh door gate for a 25 inch opening** A: Yes, this fits the bill! ## Frequently Bought Together - MidWest Homes for Pets Wire Mesh Pet Safety Gate, Pressure Mounted Dog Gate Measures 44 Inches Tall & Expands to 29-50 Inches Wide, Natural Wood & White Powder Coated Wire Mesh - MidWest Homes for Pets Wire Mesh Pet Safety Gate, Pressure Mounted Dog Gate Measures 32 Inches Tall & Expands to 29-50 Inches Wide, Natural Wood & White Powder Coated Wire Mesh - Evenflo Position & Lock Baby Gate, Pressure-Mounted, Farmhouse Collection --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/43936468-midwest-homes-for-pets-wire-mesh-pet-safety-gate-dog](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/43936468-midwest-homes-for-pets-wire-mesh-pet-safety-gate-dog) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-29*
