Review: Works great! ZAP! Take that! Bugs will hate it! UPDATED REPORT - UPDATE A YEAR LATER: My original is still working great! I decided to get a second bug zapper. After trying an on-sale competitor's (which I didn't like & gave away to my neighbor) I bought a second Buzzbug identical to my first, even though I know there are "updated" models now. My second works just as well as my first and I'm so happy I went back to this brand. Worth it! Love this product! Ever since I accidentally brought home over-ripe fruit, we've been plagued with fruit flies! Ack! Last year, I bought one of those wand-type models which worked fine, but its blue light is already wearing out and it's very top heavy, unlike this very stable model. Plus, I needed another zapper so I can have one in the kitchen and one next to my computer screen where those nasty fruit flies dive bomb my head like in a war zone. This zapper is definitely the answer! Pretty sure I'm getting another one for upstairs. I might even try it outside on my dry covered-porch. It's actually a little larger than I expected-- my fault, I'm pretty bad at visualizing dimensions stated, but that's no problem at all. It fits perfectly on my counter top or desk or even on my stairs landing and it's very STABLE. It reminds me of the old small "boom boxes" in shape. It plugs into a regular wall socket (much appreciated as my old wand is only USB) and has a simple on/off switch and a good-sized length of cord. No batteries, straight outlet AC plug. There is a clean-out tray at the bottom. Great idea! My old wand-type scatters dead bugs all over my desk lol. It also has a strap for hanging/carrying but I've not used that. Not the prettiest contraption in the world, but boy that blue light lures in anything flying and ZAP! (Best when used in a dim area or corner.) And... it not only zaps those fruit fly buggers, but it also got the giant horsefly that snuck through my door! Bahahaha! Take that! Some other types have more of a mesh covering so larger insects won't get zapped thoroughly. Not this product! It draws in any size. The "zap" is pretty ear splitting (the same as my wand-type), I mean, startling, so you might not want it in a bedroom. But, man! That loud zap is so satisfying I can't explain. It actually makes me grin. Take that!! (Oh yeah, plus it comes with two spare light tubes.) Since I've only had it for a little over a month, I can't speak to its longevity. WARNING: Be careful with ANY of these zapper products if you have pets (wet noses = not very compatable with electricity!) or very small children (same with tiny fingers). I don't think it would do great harm to anybody, but doubt it would be pleasant.
Review: 4.5/5 Stars - Highly Durable and Very Effective (With One Tough Fly Exception!) - If I could give this 4.5 stars, that would be my exact rating, but I’m rounding up because I am overall very pleased with it. Durability: This unit is incredibly tough. I had it hanging on a wall hook about six feet up near one of my doors. The double-sided tape on the hook gave way after a few days, and the entire unit crashed to the floor. I was fully expecting it to be broken, but there was absolutely no damage to the casing or the bulbs inside. It has continued zapping bugs perfectly ever since the fall. Performance: At first, I didn't think it was attracting as much as I had hoped. However, after leaving it alone for a few days and checking the tray, I was surprised by how much it had caught. It had trapped a ton of fruit flies, mosquitoes (which are incredibly bad in South Texas right now), and several house flies. It definitely works. The "Zapping" Noise: I’ve seen other reviews mention that the zap is incredibly loud. Personally, I didn't find it any louder than other standard bug zappers I’ve used in the past. Minor Complaint: My only real critique is from an incident I witnessed with one specific house fly. I heard the zap and saw the fly fall to the bottom tray, injured but still moving. I assumed it would finish dying and left the room, but when I came back later, the fly was gone. It seems it was only stunned and managed to escape. It has killed plenty of other flies since then, so it might have just been a one-time fluke, but it's worth noting. Design & Setup: The design looks nice, and it gives off a cool blue light. It also arrived packaged with extra replacement bulbs, which is a great bonus. It’s lightweight, easy to move around, and the power cord is long enough to give you good placement options. UPDATE A YEAR LATER: My original is still working great! I decided to get a second bug zapper. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Flies be gone!

Trying to commit fly murders over here. I refuse to own a fly swatter because I just know one of my kids will be touching it on something we eat or touch... And I needed something that worked while I was doing other things.. like cooking while swatting summer flies away from our food prep. In steps this fly zapper! Plugged it in, turned down my kitchen lights..within one second had zapt a fly. So highly effective right out of the box. Can't wait for it to really do it's work tonight after our kids leave our doors wide open for all the flies to come tumbling in. Said to read the manual first. You just have to plug it in, and place it in a safe spot. The manual shows you how to clean it without getting hurt, and the box has two replacement bulbs included! Win win! Two things I never restock on is bulbs or batteries.. so we should be good to go for a long time! One of the cheaper options on Amazon. And seams durable! Not flimsy. Update: a fly is higher up on a bulb, very burnt /.burny smell with flickering like a spark so I turned off as it does not seem very safe. I would never leave unattended. Questioning whether I should return because of safety.
