I tested them side by side on a painted piece of plywood.. Using identical 60 grit sanding discs this sander needed 4-5 passes to remove as much paint as a single pass with the Skil sander. The Skil left much less noticeable swirl marks (much kess vibration). And, the dust collector on the Skil collects most of the saw dust. The dust collector on this model collects 15% and pours out as you lift the sander. .Performance of this closer to a mouse sander. The variable switch is nice but there's no situation where anything less than max is enough. At max its sanding as much as sanding by hand. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for the money. *by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2018* It works as well as any more expensive sander I have used. A little bit bulky and heavy but it puts out power. My only real gripe is with the housing for the dust that comes out. It is cheap flimsy and does not stay shut. Mine fell off so I just let the dust blow where it may and clean up afterward. I tried duct taping it to stay together the dust still flies out.
