## Description

Product Description . desertcart.com De La Soul are remembered as the premier Native Tongues posse, those rappers who got low-key, self-consciously thoughtful, and jazzy in the face of gangsta's hardcore threats. But A Tribe Called Quest may have been even stronger, especially on their excellent second album, the bass-thumping, heavily jazz-sampled The Low End Theory. According to the opening "Excursions," rapper Q-Tip's old man says the disc's jazz-rap "reminded him of bebop," and Q calls himself "prominent like Shakespeare." But if Charlie Parker had ever written poetic couplets and backed them with funky-drummer and Ron Carter-on-bass grooves this irresistible, he might have been as big as the Bard and Brother James combined. --David Cantwell

Review: Best of Tribe's albums. - The best of Tribe's albums. Contains many of their hits and lesser known songs. Utilizes experimental hip-hop beats, with unmatched vocal performances.
Review: It's time to making moves, but never, ever, ever, ever fake moves: The Low End Theroy and Phife Dawg's introduction! - The second album skyrocked the game forever! The Low End Theroy set it all straight!!! In 1991, I was seven year old when the album blast off the new lane. 1.Excursions-Q-Tip explains hip hop reminds him and his dad of jazz music because jazz music introduces the world to hip hop along with funk and James Brown. Tip can do it better than ever. The bassline is booming the entire joint and i'm like "Wowwww!" 2.Buggin' Out-Make way for Phife aka The 5 Foota! The bassline shocks me to the core and i'd say this is my favorite joint of my life. Ist verse was like reminded me of N.W.A. in their "Express Yourself" when they make their way off a MLK's I Have a Dream speech. Microphone check 1,2! What is this? Welcome to Phife's world! What I like about the song is the bassline.Ever!!! Phife and Q-Tip tagging each other on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th verses. That's dope and hype they ever did! 3.Rap Promoter-A truthful hardcore attack of what's going on in the rap industry for what I can related for what's happen of today's rap industry. Thumbs up for Jonathan Davis, Kamaal Fareed, The Abstract Poet himself:Q-TIP!! Sorry wack rappers, this is not for you.Q-Tip speaks the truth and tells it all real. 1991 was the year when the music circuit was changing...fast. 4.Butter-A coolest, smoothest song with Phife Dawg about women. In fully effect, Five Foota is on the mic and he's smooth like Butter!!! 5.Verses from the Abstract-Great jazzy feeling joint when Tip talks about condition in the American nation. Vinia sings so nice, gentle, and sweet that is. 6.Show Business featuring Brand Nubian and Diamond D- a good song that it a grand slam at the popular rap game was going at the time. Do you want to be like Hammer, Young MC,Tone Loc, Lil' Wayne, and the others? No! Don't sell your soul to rags and riches. Make moves and keeping it real! 7.Vibes and Stuff-A good realistic song when they give real dedication to hip-hoppers like Trouble T-Roy before 2Pac,Biggie,Eazy,etc. 8.The Infamous Date Rape-Dope song that deals with the situation when the real-love dating goes wrong. 9.Check The Rhime-Thumbs Up!! I can bob my head to this joint because that's song's hard. Q-Tip's right: Record companies and labels are shady as dumb. Yeah, music industry started to change every artist/group when it comes to their next step. Now i can see the industry has been changing since the late 90's. Funky hard beats, trumpets, all hail to the Tribe. Industry rule four thousand eighty, major label people are still shady!!!! 10.Everything is Fair-Song's okay. 11.Jazz(We've Got)-You ca't deny this joint and it introduce me to the world of jazz. Song is so relax as Tip's verses. 12.Skypager-Solid groovy joint 13.What?-Very funky fusional song that sounds cool, dope, and always funky. 14.Scenario featuring Leaders of the New School-YEEEAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! That song took me to the outer space route as my one of my favorite posse cuts Ever!!! Phife, Charlie Brown, Dinco-D, Q-Tip, and last but not least BUSTA RHYMES!!!! Busta killed me with his verse louder like ROAWWW ROAWWW! Like a Dungeon Dragon. Thinking like he's going solo someday. East Coast stomping was kicking it, drums were kicking it, Tribe and LONS were kicking it, everything from Scenario were hardly kicking it! Period. 18 years later, LONS are back when i see Busta Rhymes performing in Brooklyn, thanks to Brooklyn hip-hop festival for bring back the Leaders Of the New School for the first time in 18 years!!! If you like The Roots, De La Soul, Common, Yasin Bey (aka Mos Def), J Dilla, Nas, Pharcyde, Jurassic 5ive, Talib Kweli, 9th Wonder, Cunninlynguists, etc. A Tribe Called Quset is here for you. The Low End Theroy says it all.Period!!
