If it works, the can will get hot and it will transfer that heat to the glass. You'll probably shatter the jar by having it get very hot in a small area while remaining cool everywhere else. That being said, induction cookers work by generating a magnetic field with causes magnetic metal to heat up. If the can is close enough to the cooktop, it will heat up even while inside the glass jar. **Q: why does it say not to place on a gas range?** A: Gas ranges have metal surfaces, the cooktop cannot be placed on any magnetic metal surface.
