Our kids love to draw and use color pencils so we sharpen daily. This on works great. It gets the pencils sharp with no problem. Its not finiky about position and the sharpen is even all around. Our children have a hard time deciphering how long to keep the pencil in. WIth that being said i think it could only be better if it would stop cutting when the pencil is sharp. Otherwise, it's a pencil sharpener, the opening is too small for fingers so yes its kid friendly. It fits perfectly on my counter without taking up too much space and its heavy enough so it doesnt slide around. The shavings pour out easily and the compartment for the shavings slides back into place easily so it's pretty easy to clean. Our kids love to draw and use color pencils so we sharpen daily. This on works great. It gets the pencils sharp with no problem. Its not finiky about position and the sharpen is even all around.
